Artificial intelligence in Meat Industry

1. Artificial intelligence key idea

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of the computer for reasoning, problem solving, and learning. Natural collect intelligence through their senses while mechanical or artificial intelligence collects by machines by simulating nature. It involves collecting, collating, interpreting (processing) and dissemination of knowledge and information for action. Furthermore, Knowledge is the key element. Oxford English Dictionary defines knowledge as (i) expertise, and skills acquired by a person through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject, (ii) what is known in a particular field or in total; facts
and information or (iii) awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation. In conclusion, knowledge representation and knowledge engineering (Russell & Norvig 2003), are central to AI.

2. Meat Industry

Previously, meat was considered as the luxury food item by the society . Therefore, people used to eat meat during the festival, special occasion, and special time of the week. This still exists in some of the developing nations and poor nations in the world.  The market value of the meat industry is expected to rise from 838 billion U.S. dollars in 2020 to over one trillion dollars by 2025. Moreover, In 2021, the United States saw the highest revenue from meat products and sausages, nearly twice as much as the second largest meat market in the world. This shows the how big is the meat industries. This includes from production to the supply chain. Researcher, are working to improve the quality of the food and to make consumer job easier while purchasing the meat. This include poultry, beef, lamb, and pork.

3.Application of Artificial intelligence in Meat Industry

There is the evidence of use of Artificial intelligence in the field of meat industry for quality improvement and making consumer job easier to prepare tasty cooked food. Meanwhile frontier journal published the research article “Using Deep Learning Neural Network in Artificial Intelligence Technology to Classify Beef Cuts ” in 2021 , which shows about the  application of deep learning to classify the beef cuts. Firstly, this research shows the application of VGG16 and InceptionResNetv2 for the classification of beef cuts. Secondly, researcher developed android and IOS application prototype that can help the consumer to find the recipe while purchasing the beef meat. Lastly, researcher used tensorflow, keras API, react native, django in their research.
